Life can make us tired. Waiting, trying, carrying responsibilities, and doing the right thing when nothing seems to change can slowly wear us down. We may keep going on the outside, but inside we feel our strength is wearing thin.

Our efforts also reach a limit. We can plan, work, think, pray, seek advice, and try different options, but there are moments when we still feel stuck, busy, afraid, or unsure of the way forward. In those moments, Scripture gives us a simple and beautiful promise:

“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Strength to Rise Above What Pulls You Down

Sometimes we need strength to rise above what is trying to rule our hearts. Fear can pull us down. Disappointment can make life feel smaller. Pressure can narrow our vision until all we see is the problem in front of us. When we feel afraid or stuck, we can trust in God to lift our eyes and steady our hearts.

Isaiah says those who wait for the Lord “shall mount up with wings like eagles.” The situation may not change immediately, but God can steady our hearts and help us see from a higher place. Fear can lose its grip. Confusion can begin to clear. Hope can return. So we can pray, “Lord, give me strength to rise above what is trying to rule my heart.”

Strength to Run Without Losing Heart

Sometimes we need strength to run through a demanding season. Life can become busy, heavy, and full of responsibilities. The work is real, the road is long, and stopping does not always seem possible. We may be doing what is right, but still feel tired from the weight of it.

Isaiah says those who wait for the Lord “shall run and not be weary.” This does not mean life becomes easy or the burden disappears at once. It means God can give endurance for the season we are in. He can strengthen us to continue faithfully in the work He has placed before us. So we can pray, “Lord, give me strength to keep going without losing heart.”

Strength to Walk One More Faithful Step

Sometimes we need strength simply to walk. This may sound ordinary, but it may be the most important kind of strength. Not every season feels like soaring. Not every day feels like running. Sometimes faithfulness looks quiet, slow, and unseen. It looks like praying again, forgiving again, serving again, trusting again, and taking one more step.

Isaiah says those who wait for the Lord “shall walk and not faint.” God cares about this kind of strength too. He is present in ordinary obedience, quiet endurance, and daily faithfulness. Sometimes grace looks like strength for today. So we can pray, “Lord, give me strength for the next faithful step.”

Trust in God’s Promise

When we are tired, busy, stuck, or afraid, we do not have to pretend we are strong. We can come to God honestly and ask for what we need: strength to rise above fear, strength to run through demanding seasons, and strength to walk faithfully when the road feels long.

God knows the strength His people need. And those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.
